Troop 64 honors new Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 64 sends its congratulations to two of its members, Christopher James Wolek and Noah Alexander Mendoza, for successfully earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Sixteen-year-old Wolek, son of Andrea and Bill Wolek, is a junior at Woodrow Wilson High School and serves as a brotherhood member of the Wacondi Hatachi Chapter within the Order of the Arrow. He has held a number of leadership positions, including assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and historian. He is also Oak Leaf trained. In addition to his leadership roles, he has received multiple Scout awards and honors, including Arrow of Light, Pope Pius XII Religious Catholic Award and the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Award. He has also attended Camp Cherokee.

For his Eagle Scout project, Wolek led a group that cleaned out, organized and catalogued sheet music for the Woodrow Wilson High School band library.

Mendoza, 16, is son of Dana and Quentin Mendoza. He is a junior at the School for Talented and Gifted at Townview and has attended multiple camps, including Camp Constantin, Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch and Florida Sea Base.

He is Oak Leaf trained and has carried multiple leadership positions, including senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, librarian and chaplain’s aide. He is an ordeal member of the Wacondi Hatachi Chapter of Order of the Arrow and has earned the Arrow of Light award as well.

For his Eagle Scout project, Mendoza led a team to renovate and mulch The Promise of Peace Garden (a community garden) to prepare for their Okra Fest.
