New report shifts water focus to conservation, not reservoirs
by Andrew Scoggin
With Texas reeling from drought in two consecutive summers, an environmental research group says the state should focus on saving to secure the state’s water supply. And by saving, it’s not just taking shorter showers. A report released by Environment Texas Research and Policy Center last week says the state should make significant investments in water conservation greater, the group says, than those planned by a state board and being discusse...
Dallas men unite to help end domestic violence
by Andrew Scoggin
Call it serendipity, or something like it. In downtown Dallas, of all places, a rainy Saturday morning threatened to put a damper on Mayor Mike Rawlings’ Rally Against Domestic Violence at City Hall. The morning drizzle turned to sprinkles, stopping by the time Rawlings took the stage to kick off one of his biggest mayoral initiat...

DALLAS COUNTY MASTER GARDENER Crank It UP!
by John Hunt
Are you getting ready to fire up those landscape garden tools, the 2-cycle engine types? Many homeowners use gas-operated line trimmers, chain saws, leaf blowers and hedge clippers. I have not favored these types of power tools because they are smoky and difficult to maintain. Plus, I really don’t want to have a second type of fuel to retain, and starting these engines can be an arm killer. Too often I have seen my neighbors laboring to get t...

Snow called Savor’s co-founder, Jim White, several months ago and said he and Riley always attend the International Grand Tasting and it was their favorite thing to do all year. Snow said he was planning to propose to Riley during the ...
