From seed to salad: Bethany Lutheran teaches children how to grow their own food
To help children understand where their food comes from and to appreciate the effort that goes into producing it, students at Bethany Lutheran Child Development Center participate in a year-around gardening project. Starting in the fall with plantings from the garden center, children in the preschool and pre-K classes dig a hole, place the plant, and cover the roots with dirt. Veteran’s day event to honor ‘heroes among us’
Daughters of World War II will honor World War II Veterans at a luncheon on Monday, Nov. 12 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel to be held after the Veteran’s Day Parade in Downtown Dallas. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the program begins at 2 p.m. The event will be one of the largest gatherings of WWII vets at a single event, with over 500 expected to be in attendance. American physician Scott Kellermann and his wife Carol were welcomed as guest speakers during “Focus on the World” chapel service at St. John’s Episcopal School. Since 2001, the couple has served as medical missionaries to the Batwa pygmies in Southwest Uganda. The Batwa pygmies are one of the most impoverished and isolated people groups in the world.
