This morning, Sat., Jan, 28, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the announcer at the Mellew Productions/Run On The Texas Half at Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake in Dallas clearly called for a boycott of Garland Road businesses.
Apparently, the businesses along Garland Road have asked that commercial operations at White Rock Lake not park on their premises, and race promoters are clearly angry enough to ask for a public boycott.
The announcer stated that if: “Garland Road businesses don’t like us, we don’t like them. Don’t do business with them.”
The statement could be clearly heard a half-mile from the event. Clear as day. This is bad business and I will ask the City Council to review business operations on City of Dallas property that clearly support boycotts of other business in the White Rock Area. I will also contact ASICs, a sponsor of the event, and ask if they support boycotts of businesses.

Dear Mr. Barker:
Just for clarification, the event this morning at White Rock Lake was not a Run On! event.
Run On! is one of the sponsors of the event.
The announcer and script for the event is the responsibility of the event director, Mellew Productions.
I have no knowledge of what was said by the announcer but we (Run On!) support all locally owned businesses, even if they are in direct competition with us.
Unfortunately we don't have control over what an event announcer says and I suggest your questions would be better answered by the race director.
If the quote is correct, as the owner of Run On!, I am totally unimpressed by it.
