Fresh from their visit to WFAA Channel 8 as part of their Journalism Merit Badge requirements, Boy Scouts from Troop 68 are ready for their next assignment: recruiting new Webelos.

A Webelo is the highest rank of Cub Scouts a boy can reach before entering Boy Scouts. The Scouts of Troop 68 decided to plan a weekend of Scout training and fun.

The event is scheduled for April 14-15 at Erwin Park in McKinney.

It will include a fun filled afternoon of training and games, and a night of fun and camping out. Snacks, dinner and breakfast will be provided.

A partial list of training available is: Fire Building, Tent Set Up, Totin Chip (how to properly use a knife), Forester Badge, Team Challenges, skits and s’mores.

A Boy Scouts Troop is only as strong as its youngest members. Recruiting younger Scouts is what helps build and unite older Scouts.

This boy-lead Scouting Program empowers all boys to be leaders. For more information, e-mail Stewart at scoutmaster@troop-68.org or call 214-587-3231.
