Recently, the Zale Foundation awarded us a small grant to pilot a backyard vegetable garden program for low income households. Board member Adrienne Cortez is leading our efforts to solicit applications from qualified neighbors throughout East Dallas and Dallas County (Shared FUEL's service area).
We have extended our application deadline until April 15 and applications can be downloaded from Shared FUEL's website at:
sharedfuel.org.
We are very excited about this new program, which, we hope, will become a model for community involvement in healthy vegetable gardening in one's own backyard. For those who would like to support our Give a Garden program, we also have a donation page on the website. Each donation, no matter how large or small, will enable us to reach out to qualified families or individuals with our vegetable gardening program.
Last year, our Give a Garden program was nominated as one of the top 10 national "Mark of Distinction" programs by Markham Vineyards.
