Spring is here and there is so much going on in East Dallas, it’s hard to decide what to do. With the weather becoming more beautiful, make some time to visit the 18th annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival this weekend.

The event spans for three days over six blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment and arts district and is completely free to attend.

This street festival runs April 6-8 and will feature hundreds of artists and musicians. Check out original bands performing live music, artists showcasing their work, wares and skills, and definitely don’t miss out on the pet parade.

The arts festival begins Friday and goes from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., and ends Easter Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be hosted on Main Street between Good Latimer and Hall Street.

This is also an opportunity to support local artists. Visitors can purchase or commission art produced by muralists, sculptors, painters and other fine artists.

About 100 bands, singers and performers will be taking center stage or on one of five separate outdoor stages to perform original compositions.

Hit up festival restaurants and concessions to sate any food cravings you might have this weekend. Have a taste of Caribbean, Mediterranean, Asian, American, Italian and other cultured foods while you stroll through the festival.

To eat and drink, the festival runs a coupon system. Don’t forget to bring cash to purchase coupons. There will be ATMs available throughout the event. Restaurants such as Cane Rosso, Deep Sushi, Zini’s Pizza, Mama Faye’s BBQ and Buzzbrews will be selling samples of their most popular dishes.
