BL freshman students – who graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas last year – were called to the gymnasium this past week for a “photo shoot” with the Texas Catholic. Back at St. Thomas, these students had a classmate, Marcos Saldana, who has Cystic Fibrosis and has been in Houston for the last eight months after receiving and recovering from a double lung transplant.

Unbeknownst to his classmates, Marcos returned to Dallas this week and the school helped to arrange a surprise reunion with his STA friends! It was a great surprise with lots of smiles and some tears as well.

The looks on students’ faces were absolutely priceless. They were in complete shock when Marcos initially walked into the gym – the last time they all saw him, he was a weak 85 pounds. After sitting in the bleachers not really knowing what to do, one of the girls finally said, “Can we go hug him?!” And then came the mad rush!

Marcos and his family are truly an inspiration and everyone was so blessed to have had the opportunity to witness such a special reunion.
