SBI participants, including current university students and recent graduates, will gain insight from Cox School of Business professors, as well as opportunities to network with Dallas business professionals.
“SBI laid out a business foundation for me. I got to learn all the fundamentals I didn't have as a non-business major,” said Tyler Cone, a 2010 participant in SBI. He now works as a media planner for Levenson & Hill, a Dallas advertising agency.
Participants will learn basics of accounting, marketing, finance, business law, career planning, computer skills, entrepreneurship, operations management and much more. They will also learn how to develop their resumes, practice interviewing, and have access to on-campus career planning resources.
“We've been very busy preparing for this year's Summer Business Institute, which is coming up quickly,” said Alice Snow, program director for SBI.
“One of the newest things we've added is a joint project with the North Texas Food Bank. We've had a lot of interest in the program this year, even more than in the past, and look forward to a great group of students.”
SBI will be held at the James M. Collins Executive Education Center on the SMU campus. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from June 4 – 29. For more information visit exed.cox.smu.edu/sbi.
