Randy Patterson will serve as PTA president of Woodrow Wilson High School for the 2012-13 school year.

A member of the class of 1982, he is only the second alumnus to ever serve as PTA president and is the first male alum.

Bradley Sue LaFon Howell, ’51, who also was librarian at the school for more than 25 years, was president in 1983-84 when her children attended the school (she has also had grandchildren graduate recently). Patterson is also only the second male to serve. Patrick Luna served in 2009-10. The Woodrow PTA was formed well before the opening of the school in September of 1928.

Patterson will oversee a board of nearly 100 members, about 10 percent of whom are alumni. He has a daughter, Shelby, who will be a sophomore this fall. She also attended J. L. Long Middle School, as did her father.

While at Woodrow, Patterson was a member of the Wildcat Band at the same time as Bradley Sue Howell's daughters.

“I bring a passion not only as a concerned parent, but also as a dedicated alum,” he told the board at an organizational meeting in July.
